Queen’s Birthday Long Weekend – North-East Victoria – book your accommodation now. Motafrenz Policy for Weekends Away is:-

  • Gordon has booked some accommodation – see below. Otherwise please book & pay for your own accommodation. This way you have the full choice of accommodation from camping to 5-Star, and you can also decide on how many days you want to stay. See detailed information below.   
  • There will be a daily schedule of organized events. The schedule will list the events for that day and dinner arrangements for that night. Every event will have a MEET place and TIME and there will be a description of the event. On some days there will be more than one event. So you will be able to select the particular events in which you wish to participate.

Daily schedule of events will include:-

 

History & Culture: a drive to Chiltern, an almost completely intact goldrush town where we will visit three National Trust properties; The Federal Standard Printing Works, Dow’s Pharmacy Museum and Lake View Homestead – the childhood home of distinguished Australian author Henry Handel Richardson, author of “The Fortunes of Richard Mahony”.

Bonegilla Migrant Experience is a rare but representative example of post-war migrant accommodation camps. Block 10, Bonegilla is of national significance as a place associated with a defining change in Australia's immigration policy.

Mountains & Rivers: On another day we will explore the Upper Murray Valley and the highlands around Khancoban and Yackandandah.

 

Car Enthusiasts: The Army Museum at Bandiana has an historic vehicle display of 150 + military vehicles including bikes, cars, trucks, heavy equipment and armoured vehicles. There are also numerous uniforms including WW1, WW2 and present day, ADD plus 150 weapons including machine guns and pistols.

Car Enthusiasts: Car Displays for the Cortina Nationals – 2012 marks the 50th anniversary of the ubiquitous Ford Cortina. This what they say: “The Cortina brand has become a worldwide motoring icon from the rich competition history of the Mk1, right through to the first-car and family duties of the humble 'T' series Cortina”.

  • Saturday 9th - Cars will gather at Blacklock’s, the Ford dealers in Lavington for a BBQ breakfast before departing for a drive. Everyone is welcome to attend the breakfast and/or to go on the drive.
  • Sunday 10th - Main public display - You will be able to view the cars in the grounds of Kinross Woolshed Hotel, in Thurgoona, Albury. There will be food on sale and the hotel will be serving food & drinks.

Rutherglen Winery Walkabout; Here is what they say: “Victoria's original wine festival boasts three Tourism Awards including "Best Festival in Victoria" and "Best Festival in Australia". Winery Shuttle Bus; Here is what they say: Hop on and off as you please in a safe and easy tour of the wineries. The shuttle bus will stop at each winery every half hour making it easy for you to get around to all the wineries you want to visit. We'll also be providing a pick-up and drop off service from Wodonga. Winery Shuttle Bus will include the 'Wine Cloak Room' - purchase wine at any of the 19 participating wineries and let your bus driver do the work for you - exchange your wine purchase for a ticket and then get your wine back at the end of the day before heading home.
