Slot Car Racing - join the Motafrenz Grand Prix

Come along and enjoy a light-hearted, fun evening of racing at Melbourne Model Raceway. Ged (pronounced the same as Jed) is the proprietor and is looking forward to the evening and will be our chief timekeeper. He prides himself on running a tolerant and welcoming establishment.

Between 7:30 PM and 8 PM the track will be open for practice for you to get acquainted with the cars and track.

From 8 PM everyone will participate in five races of four minute duration. Racing should be completed by 9:30 PM. If enough people want to stay on, we will run another series of five races.

Everyone will be racing identical Citroen C2 Junior World Rally Cars, a brand of car which is sure to please more than one Motafrenz member!

If you have your own slot cars, old or new, bring them along and have a run before or after the racing. Ged has plenty of spare parts and tyres, so even your old cherished childhood cars can be returned to their former glory!

Free Tea and coffee is available, BYO soft drinks. It is requested that you drink moderately if bringing alcohol.

Space in the venue is limited and the event is restricted to 12 competitors; so RSVP early to secure your grid spot.

Remember, skill levels will vary and the main thing is to enjoy the participation and camaraderie.

DATE: Wed 1st February

PLACE: Ged’s Melbourne Model Raceway. 13 Milton Crescent, Preston. Due to lack of street parking, and out of consideration for neighbours, please park in the Safeway Car Park.

Ring the bell above the side doorway when you arrive.

TIME: 7:30pm for an 8:00pm start

COST: $20 per person for the night - for hire of track and cars
